We will take an historical tour of U.S. music starting in colonial and revolutionary days (Billings’ Chester and The Island Queen), travel through country hymns (Sing to the Lord, Shall We Gather at the River), spirituals (There Is a Balm, Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit) and folksongs (Goin’ to Boston, This Land Is Your Land). In the 20th century we’ll sing Broadway (The Impossible Dream), jazz (Take Five), pop (You’ve Got a Friend), a TV jingle (Snap, Crackle, Pop), as well as Frost’s poetry (Choose Something Like a Star). The tour ends with our country’s search for equality with justice (Wanting Memories).
It’s our most American concert ever, one that captures what we believe in, what we strive for, and what we carry in our hearts.
