Become a Member of our Music Group
For those who love to sing, there is little that is more satisfying than hearing voices joining together in song. Minnetonka Choral Society (MCS) offers those in the west metro of Minneapolis a music group to do just that. Tight harmonies are rewarding to hear resonate. A resolving chord brings a sense of completion. A melody can be as pleasing to sing, as it is to hear. Singers love to learn new music as well as return to an old standard on occasion. Those are just some of the reasons why the members of the MCS join the group and return year after year. It’s fun to sing!
Minnetonka Choral Society holds our music group auditions in the fall, spring, and summer in the Minneapolis west metro area – usually at our rehearsal space in Hopkins. Auditions are with the music director, Jere Lantz. Potential members should bring to the audition a short prepared piece that demonstrates their vocal range. An accompanist will be provided at no charge. Auditions may also include sight-reading of a basic hymnal choral harmony part.
Currently no auditions are held, as the Fall-Winter 2021/22 season is cancelled. We are hoping to resume rehearsals in the January-February 2022 timeframe.
Rehearsals are temporarily cancelled.
As a self-supporting non-profit music group, Minnetonka Choral Society asks that members help contribute to the costs of the organization. Singers pay $40 in dues per semester and pay for their own copies of the music, which are theirs to keep. If these expenses present a financial burden for a singer, MCS is happy to work with them to find a solution. Cost should not be seen as a barrier to participating.
