When and where does MCS rehearse?
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings, 7:00 to 9:15pm, early September through mid-December and late January to late April at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN.
How much will it cost?
As a self-supporting nonprofit music group, Minnetonka Choral Society asks that members help contribute to the operating costs of the organization. Member dues are $50 per semester. Singers also pay for their own copies of the music scores, which are theirs to keep. If these expenses present a financial burden for a singer, MCS is happy to work with them on a solution. Cost should not be seen as a barrier to singing with MCS.
How can I set up an audition?
Email us at minnetonkachoralsociety@gmail. com. Please include your mobile telephone number and email address. Check your texts and email spam folder for our response, so we are sure to reach you. You can also call us at 952-476-1922 to schedule your audition time.
When are auditions?
Auditions are held throughout the year, by appointment. Most auditions will be scheduled during the hour before our first two rehearsals of the semester, in early September and late January, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, MN.
Who would I be singing for?
Auditions are with our friendly music director, Jere Lantz. The audition process is easy, beginning with some vocalization exercises to warm up. If you need it, Jere will provide piano accompaniment. Auditions are private and take about 10 minutes.
How should I prepare?
Practice a short solo that demonstrates your vocal range. The piece could be your part from a choral arrangement, a song you learned in lessons, or a folk song. Sing something you’re comfortable with that is long enough so Jere can listen to you for a couple minutes. If needed, Jere will provide accompaniment. You may also be asked to sight-read your voice part from a short choral selection (like a hymn).
