It’s a difficult time for everyone during this pandemic. While MCS may not be meeting in-person, know that we are still here! We’re using this time to plan and organize, and as soon as it’s safe for our singers and guests, we’ll be back singing!
In order to protect our singers and guests in the wake of the Covid-19 (corona virus) pandemic, this MCS spring concert was CANCELLED.

Haydn: Missa in Angustiis (Mass in Troubled Times: Lord Nelson Mass)
Gjeilo: Sunrise Mass
Two masterpieces composed two centuries apart on the same text reveal the miracle that genius can create in the human soul.
Franz Joseph Haydn was 66 when he brought forth his greatest work, his Missa in Angustiis (Mass in Troubled Times) with chorus and trumpets pealing forth in glory. Ola Gjeilo, a Norwegian who came to America at 21, was 32 in 2010 when he created his Sunrise Mass with the same Latin text newly conceived as “The Spheres,” “Sunrise,” “The City,” and “Identity.”
Where Haydn found glory, Gjeilo (YAY-low) unveils familiar chords combined in a magical way to create a new sense of mystery.
Two choirs, two masses, two centuries, two masterpieces, two concerts: one miracle.
